Dr. James completed her medical degree and the Bilingual Family Medicine residency program at the University of Manitoba, and has earned a Masters in Medical Education from the University of Dundee.
As a family physician in Manitoba, she focused on the care of marginalized populations across various settings, including working with Indigenous people in northern communities and with Francophone patients in minority language settings, among others. She provided broad-spectrum rural and urban generalist care, delivered in an interdisciplinary care model.
She has held various positions at the medical undergraduate and postgraduate levels at the University of Manitoba and at the University of Ottawa, with special interests in curriculum development, educational initiatives to improve patient access to French-language healthcare, and learner well-being. She joined the CMPA in 2019, where she develops and leads initiatives to improve physician wellness in the context of medico-legal events.
